Feb 29th Openstage Theater
- Can a middle-aged, middle-class woman survive when she suddenly has to make beds all day in a hotel and live on $7 an hour? Maybe. But one $7-an-hour job won’t pay the rent; she’ll have to do back-to-back shifts as a chambermaid and a waitress. This isn’t the first surprise for acclaimed author Barbara Ehrenreich, who set out to research low-wage life firsthand. She is prepared for hard work but not, at 55, for double shifts and nonstop aches and pains, for having to share tiny rooms and beg from food pantries, for failing to make ends meet and constantly having to swallow humiliation. Joan Holden’s vivid, witty stage adaptation captures the epic humor and indelible characters who populate Ehrenreich’s best-selling book.
Friday is the half-price special day for the Openstage. Tickets are $10 apiece and a free beer is provided at intermission.
Contact: KeithSchwols if you are joining and maybe arrange for pre-show dinner or after show plans.

Bundle up for Breck's annual International Snow Sculpture Championships, when the world's top carvers turn this ski town into an ice-cold sculpture garden. - For those who said they had an interest in going dancing it looks like Friday, Feb 3 is the best date to do it. How about meeting for dinner around 7pm in LODO and then heading over to Polyesthers around 9pm or so? Those of us up in Ft. Collins/Loveland - I'm still offering to be designated driver - we should leave no later than 6pm I think (Chalyn if you carpool with us I'll have to time to leave Fort Collins between 5:30-5:45 so we can pick you up around 6). Here are my suggestions for dinner:
- Dixon's (great margaritas!)
- Il Forniao
- BD's Mongolian BBQ
- Sonoda's (Sushi/Japanese) If you haven't already RSVPd about coming dancing with us please let me know if you want to join us by the weekend of Jan 28. I'll send out a reminder to all who have RSVPd but I won't post to the entire list again.
Sunday, Feb. 12th KeithSchwols

Snowshoe Gould Loop Trail. Ann and I are trying out this trail for the first time. It is a groomed trail leaving from the backdoor of the Moose Vistor Center near Gould. The state parks website states that the center has snowshoes rentals for $5, so this is a good opportunity if you've never snowshoed before. We'll meet at Gibb's bagel (on Drake and Shields) at 8:30am for a quick breakfast and leave by 9. RSVPs: Keith, Ann, Patty and (maybe Dave)
Trip was great. I'll post up details on the SnowShoeing page. But, this is a great beginners trail. It's flat and groomed and the visitor's center rents snowshoes for $5.
