Movies to See

This is a list started by BobProulx to keep track of what movies we should watch. But this does not means that you should not add to the list. Go ahead and suggest or comment on the movies.

Movie Recommendations

Want to see:

• Saved. Looks to be a fun light comedy.
• Jarhead. It got Two Thumbs Up. Not your typical war movie.
• Crash.
• Domino.
• A History of Violence.
• Kids in America.
• The Great Raid. Another war movie. But looks to be a good one.
• Grizzly Man.
  • A tragic ending but looks to be quite a good look at the wilderness straight in the face.
• Land of the Dead.
  • George Romero created the zombie movement with the classic Night of the Living Dead. A must see to have the master back at work again.
• Any Jet Li movie. Still have not seen a Jet Li movie. How did that happen?
• March of the Penguins.
  • Good show. Great documentary. Will probably win several awards.
    • Saw this with the group but without Sue. Sue still wants to see this movie.
• Lord of War. Was a good movie. It does not really have an ending. The business of war continues.

In Bob's collection for a movie night sometime.

• Battlestar Galactica miniseries movie (the new one).
  • This is not the old BG! You will either love it or hate it. This is a completely new series which at first I had dismissed. But this next generation BG truly is a worthy watch. Don't expect anything like the original.

• Them! Still a classic.

• When Worlds Collide From the master.

Bob's B movies for fans of camp. Some people call these drinking movies. Joe Bob Briggs would like these. If you don't know who Joe Bob Briggs is then you don't want to watch these movies. Or maybe you do and just don't want to admit it.

• Hell Comes to Frogtown

  • So campy you need to watch from your tent.

• Hawk the Slayer

  • For the old time D&D player. So bad that it is good.

    • Saw it 5/18 and it was great. Amazing that it showed up in Fort Collins, although for only 5 days as the screens are needed for Star Wars now.

  • Assault on Precinct 13
  • Charlies and Chocolate Factory - Johnie Depp as Willie Wonka !?
    • Saw it. Not as good as it could have been. Depp in another odd, interesting roll -- Keith
  • Fantasic Four - Okay, I'm a F4 fan
    • Saw it - best I can say is that is doesn't suck -- Keith
  • Interpreter, The
  • Kingdom of Heaven
  • Kung Fu Hustle
    • Great flick, saw it on 5/9
  • Star Wars
    • At least there is now closure; saw it.
  • Serenity - Firefly the movie, how you not want to see it?
    • Oh my god, they killed main characters. Other than that, fantastic movie. I can't wait to see the ultimate box office effect here - could we get Firefly back on TV?!

Movie Combinations

This section contains lists of movies that would good (or at least better) watching in conjunction with other. It can be sequels that need to be be pairs, originals and remake or related theme movies. Let your imagination be your guide.

• Saved. It just looks like fun.
• Oceans Eleven and Twelve.

  • Did that last week, although the movie clerks at Blockbuster should double check if a customer is renting two copies of the Ocean's 11 that they wanted the remake and original and not two of the same. So we'll still have to watch the original - maybe at Ann's Martini party

• Any Jet Li movie
• Transporter. To couple with another action adventure movie.
• Unseen Jackie Chan movies.
• Bat 21, Blackhawk Down
• Blade Trinity. I will probably regret the time wasted but I would like to finish the trilogy. Named Trinity but it is a single movie.
• Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, other Mel Brooks

  • With Bride and Prejudice and I Have Found It, maybe we can combnie Jane Austin night and Bollywood - Keith

  Remake Night: Ocean's 11 both versions and Ocean's 12
  • We did this, but Bob got two copied of the Ocean's 11 remake.
  Jet Li Night: Kiss of the Dragon, Romeo Must Die, The One, Hero, Iron Monkey, Once Upon a Time in China, Legend of the Red Dragon ... Bill Murray Night: Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Caddyshack, Stripes Malkovich: Being John Malkovich, Rounders, Dangerous Liasons, Shadow of the Vampire Oscar Best Pictures Night: picking Oscar winners over the last 10 years.
